Care & Cleaning
Our enamel coating protects the pan’s surface, eliminating the need for seasoning before or after use.
Preheat on medium to medium-high heat for up to five minutes to ensure even cooking and reduce sticking. Adjust temperatures lower as needed during the cooking process.
Add a light coating of oil or butter to the pan and heat until shimmering, but not smoking.
After cooking, let the pan cool completely, then hand wash with warm water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. For deeper cleaning, refer to our simple 3-step cleaning guide.
I’ve had my caraway braiser for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. I’ve used it for chicken and it cooks perfectly, I also have caraway non stick pans and stainless steel pans so of course I had to try the cast iron as well and it’s just as good, highly recommend!

Questions? We Have Answers.
How do I season Enameled Cast Iron, or does it need seasoning?
Our Enameled Cast Iron Cookware doesn't require seasoning and is ready to use straight out of the box. This means you can cook a wide variety of dishes, including acidic foods (unlike seasoned cast iron), without any concerns. It is easy to maintain—just wash it with soap and water.
While seasoning isn’t necessary, you may notice a patina, or sheen, forming over time from the oils released during cooking. This is completely normal, and your pan can continue to be used without removing the patina.
Is Caraway’s Enameled Cast Iron non-stick?
Our Enameled Cast Iron Cookware is designed with a durable enameled coating that reduces sticking compared to traditional cast iron. For optimal performance, preheat the pan and use a small amount of oil or butter for an effortless cooking experience.
Is it safe to use on all stovetops and ovens?
Absolutely! Our Enameled Cast Iron Cookware is compatible with all stovetops and is oven-safe up to 500°F
Can I use it in the dishwasher?
We recommend hand washing with warm, soapy water to ensure your cookware’s longevity. Products like Barkeepers Friend®, Dawn Platinum™, and white vinegar are also great options for cleaning. For more details, check out our Care & Cleaning guide.
Can I use metal utensils on my Enameled Cast Iron?
To protect the enamel coating, avoid using metal utensils like knives, whisks, or spatulas. Instead, use wooden (like our Prepware!), silicone, plastic, or nylon utensils. Avoid cutting food directly in the pan to prevent scratches.
How is Enameled Cast Iron different from Caraway’s Ceramic and Stainless Steel collection?
Our Enameled Cast Iron stands out for its durability, superior heat retention, and even heat distribution. It’s perfect for recipes that involve searing, frying, and baking.
How do I cook with Caraway's Enameled Cast Iron Cookware?
Cooking with our Enameled Cast Iron is simple. Preheat the pan on medium heat for about 5 minutes, then add oil or butter to prevent sticking. Its superior heat retention makes it perfect for searing, braising, baking, and more. Allow food to naturally release before flipping. The pan transitions seamlessly from stovetop to oven and cleans up easily, thanks to its durable enamel coating. Perfect for everyday use!
